About the job
As our new UX Designer, you’ll bring your enthusiasm and passion for finding and solving user problems using quant and qual insights, day in, day out.
You’ll be an expert at what you do and know exactly how to use your skills to create simple, creative, and intuitively user-friendly designs and ideas. You’ll be the kind of person that loves to push the boundaries of what’s possible and thrives in a fast-paced environment like ours.
This is a new position for an energetic, passionate, and analytical UX designer to join our team. You will help build and execute the existing strategy focused on designing from data and research insights. You will need to exhibit an excellent ability to prioritize and manage your workload.
You are passionate about UX, love thinking big and have a solid understanding of using data and research to inform your design decisions. You are also deeply passionate about delivering the highest quality results. You are naturally customer-centric and thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical, business and communication skills.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping embed UX and user research on the secured loan product team.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of UX/UI design, qualitative/ quantitative research, and accessibility standards. You will be reporting to the Head of Design & UX and work from our Manchester office at Think Park 2/3 times a week with our multi-disciplined team.
What you’ll be doing for us
A day in the life of this role could look like…
- Work within diverse multi-disciplined teams to design services that meet our user's needs.
- Designing to outcomes that improve users’ lives and help define what done looks like.
- Use UX metrics to help measure the user experience and outcomes set.
- Participate in research to help us understand user problems.
- Solve problems experienced by the user with a focus on business and user outcomes.
- Creating conceptual designs and intuitive user experiences.
- Analyse briefs thoroughly, create wireframes, user flows, interaction models, mental models.
- Contribute to the weekly design community of practice.
- Help create and evolve the Ocean design system.
- Contribute to design critiques to help improve our ideas and concepts at Ocean.
- Collaborating with our multi-disciplined teams to share problems, findings and create solutions together.
- Work closely with the development teams to ensure flawless implementation and apply best practices.
- Working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- You’re an advocate for accessibility and web standards.
Skills-wise, you’ll definitely:
- Minimum of 3 years UX experience.
- Possess a strong sense of urgency, and relentless commitment to quality.
- Have a passion for UX & user research with an enthusiasm for learning.
- Experience working in agile multi-disciplined teams.
- Excellent ability to make evidence-based design decisions informed by research and data insights.
- Using quant and qual to improve our end-to-end journeys.
- A strong communicator to all levels across the business and build relationships.
- Excellent communication skills and can present user findings. Talk through ideas, designs, and user journeys.
- In-depth understanding of how to do competitor analysis to turn into powerful creative solutions.
- Creative designer with a strong eye for detail.
- You’re strong designing UI and creating low and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops with your product team.
- Use your experience to call on the right UX technique at the right time.
- Able to engage team members within the UX process.
- Understand and communicating to the team the importance of alignment diagramming.
- Creating customer journey maps, service blueprints, experience maps, or mental model maps.
- Worked with design systems and are familiar with Figma and prototyping.
- Bring a positive, curious, high-energy mindset, and a burning desire to learn.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
